theicebreak helps couples increase understanding, excitement, and connection in their relationships. We provide them a way to quantify and visualize their relationships, creating charts that show the state of the relationship over time, By prompting couples to answer fun, engaging questions and send moments from the day to each other, we also encourage better communication between partners on and off the site.

Christina A. Brodbeck, Co-founder

Christina was on the founding team of YouTube, the company's first UI Designer, and then later went on to lead design for the company's mobile efforts.

Before that, she worked at NASA Ames, MRL Ventures, and Keynote Systems. She's a proud Chicagoland native and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She holds a master's in Instructional Technologies and Multimedia Design, and is passionate about building technology that makes people happy and improves their everyday lives.

Christina and her boyfriend live in San Francisco, and 3 things that come to her mind when she thinks of him are: Cable Car Pizza, Star Trek Voyager, Coke (not Diet)


Dwipal Desai, Co-founder

Dwipal was one of the first engineers at YouTube, where he was responsible for building a majority of the early features like comments, groups, channels and video transcoding. He also created the mobile group and headed all of YouTube's mobile efforts, including iPhone, Android, Web and others.

Prior to YouTube, Dwipal worked at Paypal where he worked on Fraud management, Internationalization and System Integration. He holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from USC.

Dwipal has been married for 5 years, and 3 things that come to his mind he thinks about his wife are: lazying around, watermelon and cats.


Carol Gunby, Editorial Director

Before landing at theicebreak, Carol Gunby was an early UX hire at YouTube, a utility infielder working on UX design, site copy and video production. She later led front-end localization of YouTube into over 40 languages.

Prior to YouTube, she was a content developer at PayPal and Genealogy.com. With a multi-disciplinary Master's in Engaged Humanities (emphasis in Depth Psychology), she's passionate about improving understanding between people at the couple level and beyond.

Carol and her girlfriend have been togather since the beginning of time, and three things that come to mind when she thinks of her are: gardening, great food, and traveling together


Raj Arasu, Lead Engineer

Raj is an expert at NLP and Recommendation Systems. He previously worked at the venture firm SandBox Industries, where he helped prototype new ideas and also advise other entrepreneurs regarding technology platforms.

He holds a Master Degree in Computer Science from DePaul University.



Shirley Morales, Visual Designer

Shirley is a California native, and is the visual design guru at theicebreak. She utilizes her skill in illustration and layout to bring our products to life.

Prior to theicebreak, Shirley worked at American Music Press magazine, where she was responsible for the design of the company's Web site and marketing materials.

Shirley and her boyfriend met online, and three things that come her to mind she thinks of him are MMA / Boxing fights, Pizza and Crushed bones.


Dr. Alice Boyes, Advisor & Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Boyes is a social and clinical psychologist in private practice, writer, speaker, therapist, relationships expert, and internationally published author of original psychology research. She has worked as a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Sussex in the UK and has her PhD in Psychology from the University of Canterbury.
